Services
Wherever you’re at with your writing journey – whether you’re partway through your manuscript and have hit a sticky patch, or you have the seed of an idea but don’t know where to begin – I can help.
I’ll read your manuscript (or outline, or notes) and prepare some feedback for you, we’ll discuss on a one-hour video call, and then I’ll follow-up with notes from our discussion so you know exactly what you need to do next.
I can offer coaching as a one-off session to kick-start your writing or get you out of a slump, or as an ongoing relationship to help you along the way and give you the support and accountability you need to get your project finished.
If you’ve finished your book and aren’t sure where to go next, I can help! A manuscript assessment will give you an overview of your book and where you need to take it next, with feedback on plot, characters, dialogue, pacing, style and marketability.
This is a big-picture, broad-strokes report which will help you see your work with clear eyes and guide you through the next steps.
After you have the report, we’ll have a one-hour video call to talk through my feedback and any questions you have – whether on the manuscript itself, querying agents, the publishing industry, or whatever you’d like to talk through.
This is a belt-and-braces, comprehensive edit to get your manuscript in shape for submitting to agents or publishers, or ready for copyediting/proofreading ahead of self-publishing.
You’ll get a detailed report on every aspect of your novel, as well as in-line edits on the manuscript for clarity, pacing and style, to guide you through your next stage of revisions. If you’ve completed several drafts of your work and can no longer see the wood for the trees, or if you know something isn’t quite right but not how to fix it, this is the edit you need.
Alongside the report and marked-up manuscript, we’ll arrange a one-hour video call to talk through my feedback and plan your next steps, so you’ll have everything you need to pull your manuscript into the best possible shape.
If your manuscript is structurally sound but you want a thorough edit correcting any spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes, checking for consistency, and ironing out your timeline, you need a copyedit.
I’ll read your manuscript, correcting errors and ensuring consistency, plus making in-line amends for sense and clarity, and return it to you with all changes tracked and a style sheet detailing spelling and style choices, and listing characters, places and timeline.
I can work in US or UK English.
If you’re about to hit publish – or you’re about to submit to agents and publishers but are particularly worried about typos – a proofread is the last stage of editing to ensure any stray typos which may have slipped through previous rounds of edits are caught.
You’ll get a marked-up manuscript plus a style sheet of spelling and style choices.
I can work in US or UK English.
For self-publishers, I can support you through the whole editorial process, from idea generation right through to finished book.
If you need help with author branding, publishing strategy, back-cover copy, titling, metadata or honing your story or idea, I can help.
Please reach out and we can work out a bespoke package based on your needs.
